Sacred. Stunning. Threatened.

This is Bears Ears National Monument.

The ancestral home of the Hopi Tribe, Navajo Nation, Ute Mountain Ute Tribe , Pueblo of Zuni, and Ute Indian Tribe, towering sandstone spires, meandering canyons, juniper forests, and thousands of ancient Puebloan ruins make this area a living, breathing museum.

Stripped of its protected status in 2017, monument status was restored in 2021. But the threat still looms large and the protections now back in place could be undone with the mark of a pen once again.

Bears Ears: Echoes of Time is an experimental short film and visual journey through this incredible region; made with the goal of helping others to appreciate, respect, and protect it.
